SureCoach AI
Turning an hour of assessment data into help for the moment at hand.
SurePeople’s Prism assessment captures how a person processes information, makes decisions, handles conflict, stays motivated, and responds under pressure. The opportunity behind SureCoach was to make that depth useful on demand: an AI coaching experience for employees and managers preparing for a conversation, decision, goal, or workplace challenge.
I owned the module’s product design from early requirements through production alignment. The conversational pattern was intentionally familiar; the harder problem was shaping a broad AI capability into an experience that felt focused, credible, and grounded in each user’s behavioral context.
Designing the experience around useful choices, not an empty prompt.
A blank chat box places all of the effort on the user. I designed entry points, suggested prompts, response hierarchy, empty states, continuation patterns, and fallbacks that demonstrated what SureCoach could do without constraining the conversation. The interface had to orient first-time users quickly, then recede once the coaching exchange began.
The evolving design system let me work directly at high fidelity and test flows in context. In our recurring design sessions, I used interactive prototypes to examine the small decisions that determine whether a chat product feels effortless: keyboard behavior, loading and response states, message density, long-form readability, and the transition between guidance and action.
Treating memory and retrieval as part of the core experience.
Coaching compounds when people can return to it. I designed conversation history around quick scanning, search, team-member context, and lightweight management, accounting for both employees reviewing their own guidance and managers moving between different working relationships.
Clear titles, timestamps, filters, selection states, and destructive-action safeguards made a potentially dense archive manageable on a small screen—without turning the feature into another inbox users had to maintain.
Converting a transient conversation into a durable coaching artifact.
Not every useful coaching moment should remain buried in chat history. I designed a printable output that reorganized the conversation into a structured guide—preserving the relevant context, recommendations, and action steps in a format users could review, share, or bring into a real conversation.
This required designing beyond the mobile viewport and deciding what information deserved permanence. The result connected an immediate AI interaction to the longer arc of goal setting, preparation, and follow-through.
The outcome.
SureCoach became a production-ready expression of SurePeople’s core strategy: personalized coaching, available in the flow of work and powered by proprietary behavioral data. Guided entry points made the AI approachable, structured responses made its output actionable, and history and printable guides gave the advice value beyond a single session. Detailed prototypes and motion references helped the shipped experience closely reflect the interaction quality we designed.
